My almost 2 year olds favorite book! We have the first pout pout fish and I loved it so much that I decided to buy this one. She likes this one even better. I think it's just as cute. We have been so happy with both books that I just ordered 4 others in the collection!---update. This and the first pout pout fish are awesome. 5 stars for sure. The others in the collection are just whatever. Nothing special and really short. Stick to the first 2.
My daughter, who is nearly 2, absolutely loves the original Pout-Pout Fish book. It's her go-to book when she wants a story read to her but it stays at grandma's house. So, I wanted to find another book in the seties to have at home since she is always requesting "Pout Kiss". "The Pout-Pout Fish in the Big-Big Dark" looked to have the highest rating next to the original so I opted for this one. The story is very cute and sing-song-like, with bits of alliteration thrown in. It's super fun to read and the rhyming is done very well so everything flows nicely when reading. The pictures are detailed and interesting and you can always find something you didn't notice before. My daughter is always pointing to different things on each page so it really holds her attention and interest. This book and the original would make the perfect gift for a young reader or an expectant mother. We absolutely love Pout-Pout Fish!! I'll definitely be biting more of the series.
This book is just as fun a read as the original Pout-Pout Fish. My seven month old doesn't quite seem to care for it as much as we do (we claim it's his favorite - it's really ours), but I'm sure that will change with age. It's just such a fun book to read out loud. The illustrations are the best and they do manage to capture his attention when I read. I got a laugh today when reading and noticed that one of the fishes that lives in the Big Big Dark trench is actually reading the original Pout-Pout Fish. Kudos for sticking that in there :)
Our two-year-old son LOVES the original Pout Pout Fish book, so I was so excited to try this one! He loves this one just as much as the first! As I'm reading the story, I love to ask him to point to things or name things that he sees in the colorful pictures. He can't get enough! This will be my new go-to for birthday presents for little ones!
My daughter loves the Pout-pout stories!! They are great rhyming stories with good lessons. My 3 year old even has the book half memorized and "reads" it herself. I was a disappointed to see that the book we received had damage to the spine and edge of the cover. There were several items in my order box and not packing. Everything slid around in there. I'm not sure if that caused the damage or it was that way when they packed it.
My son, students, and I have all loved the original Pout-Pout Fish book and I was hopeful that we would love this as much. While it is cute, it does not seem to capture childrens’ attention as well as the original. I also found that the rhyming felt a bit unnatural at points and that the language sometimes felt forced in order to support the rhyme. While I certainly do not dislike this book, I would not purchase it again.
My 18 month old loves this book even more than the first Pout Pout fish. Vibrant illustrations and a whimsical cadence makes this book a standout in our growing library of board books. Definitely a favorite of mom and toddler alike!
I bought this book to go with the first Pout Pout Fish book and everything I loved about the first one is true of this one:- Longer. It’s a great length for toddlers and preschoolers that are ready to move up from the ones with only a few pages.- Bright, beautiful pictures- A catchy rhythm that makes it fun and easy to read out loud.- A board book. Sturdy enough for toddlers to “read†by themselves.
