About the Author
Mark Phelps traces his passion for aviation back to age eight, when he’d fill up on stories of flight’s heroes, past and present, at the local library. After learning to fly after college, he landed a job as an editor at Flying, where he still contributes stories today. With 1,800 hours logged in the air, Mark is an active instrument pilot. The owner of the Lockheed Electra Jr. featured on the cover had contacted me for more information about the picture, and at the time I didn't even know it had been licensed for use in the book.I'm a aviation buff, and love photographing aircraft whenever I get the chance. This book a great addition to any coffee table and I agree with most of their selections. There is some really great photography in this book and nice writeups for each one, even though in some cases the information can seem a bit brief, especially for iconic aircraft like the P-51 Mustang.Overall it's well worth the money and would make a great gift to any aviation lover.
Bought this book for my older brother, who was a soldier in the late 1950's and who later worked for an airplane manufacturing company. He has always been fascinated by airplanes, so this gift was very appreciated by him!
This collection of beautiful planes and information about them will appeal to anyone who loves planes. It is a lovely book to give as a gift.

This book is one of my favorites. It's not long to read, even though this is a big book. The pictures mostly take up the space. If you're interested in jets and airplanes like I am this book will only take you deeper in the subject. I recommend this book to anyone interested in air travel. It's well worth the price. Even if you don't read a word the photography is priceless.
