His love seems so authentic. He is not just putting words on the page or speaking goodwill to the masses. He is capturing life at its fullest and throwing it back to us.I am very cynical person. I typically view Christian authors as opportunistic over authentic, but with Bob, I see genuine love for all.Everybody, Always is a perfect follow up to Love Does. The book is full of amazing stories and beautiful calls for action. This book is a great challenge for a guy like me, who can become numb and disillusioned with the world.I highly recommend this work to everyone. Faith-based nonfiction is typically one of my favorite genres, and after seeing all of the crazy amazing reviews and ratings this book was getting, I knew I had to snag this one up. Not to mention, this book has a super gorgeous and vibrant cover, which always makes for a great bookshelf addition!I have to say, though, this book was a real miss for me, as much as it pains me to admit that. I wanted to love it so much, but I just found myself disconnecting from the author more and more as I progressed further in the book. I do want to try another of Mr. Goff’s books before I completely write him off as one of my potential authors to follow, because I feel like this one just didn’t hit the mark for me, but others might.I know the author surely didn’t mean to present himself in such an off-putting way, but the examples he gave throughout the book of his showing love to others were very hard for a common person to identify with -- from his visits overseas, to his handing out tickets to Disneyland, it was so hard to identify with how he lives life. Was he showcasing what it means to love others, always? -- you bet. I have no doubt that Mr. Goff is a precious soul who consistently wins others over to Christ, and for that I can’t thank him enough, or say enough wonderful things about what his character must be like. For me, though, the chapters were written in such a way that I lost track of the good that Mr. Goff was doing, and instead focused more on how impractical it would be for most people in our society to be able to accomplish such good deeds.

BUT, I’ve never wanted to share a book with you more than I want to share “Everybody Always” by Bob Goff.I read Bob’s first book, “Love Does,” a few years ago. It is lovely and wonderful. “Everybody Always” is even more so.We’re attempting to navigate this seemingly polarized world of scary events, differing opinions, and difficult people. It’s hard, but this new book is going to bring such a light to the readers, and those the readers choose to love.I’m not overstating it when I say that while reading his books I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, and I’m learning to love better.You’re going to love reading Bob’s experiences and nuggets of wisdom.

Have been savoring this book, allowing myself only one chapter every few days. Finally finished it and I so wish there was more. Cried in nearly every chapter. Bob Goff is one of the most inspirational people alive, and so humble.I’m not Christian, or religious at all, so as you can imagine, I don’t read a lot of books about Jesus. (Like almost only Love Does.) There’s a lot of Jesus in this book. And a lot of religious teachings. Yet even for someone like me, the messages are beautiful and resonant and I agree with all of them. I just don’t use the same words or imagery. And I didn’t feel wrong for being different. Whoever you are, you can feel the love coming through in this book. For you and for everybody, always.And Bob Goff should win an Oscar or Pulitzer or whatever you get for storytelling. But that part of the award is for the life you had to live to have the stories to tell.

I was first introduced to this lovely author Bob when I read "Love Does" and I enjoyed reading every bit of it. When I heard of Everybody, Always... I knew I had to get my hands on this.The first few chapters already had me laughing to myself silly and then within the few minutes, reaching out for the tissue box. Anyone who reads what Bob writes would agree that he has a way to "hook" you into his world and experience what he went through - with so little words and yet in a deep and profound manner.Bob manages to convince me that no matter who we meet, they are fighting a battle you know nothing about (as the quote goes) and because of that, we are to love everybody, always. Especially those who you disagree with. And that's the main crux of Jesus' ministry. He taught us to love the sinner, not the sin - always!

I had purchased 'So, You Want to Be a Physician' for my child when she started applying to medical schools. She was successful in getting admission to medical school with the material and guidance given in the book. Pre-medical students carry an inordinate amount of academic load to meet the medschool course prerequisites. The extra curricular activities place even greater demand on their time. The application process itself can be the proverbial 'last straw that breaks the camel's back.' The book offers focused, relevant information thus making it easier for the students to separate the essentials from nice-to-have and effectively manage the application process.

As a college freshman I recommend this book to any young college student or high school student considering medical school. The author gives advice on what actions a student can take to maximize their med school application’s attraction to an admissions officer. This guide will encourage any prospective student to laser in on exactly on what medical schools want to see, without being “distracted” by other parts of a college experience. It seems like a great book full of pictures and has way more current information than Dare to Dream, etc. Thats only because it came out recently and tells you all NEW stuff about the boys! I purchased it for a young girl for her 13th birthday. She's a pretty big fan of One Direction and I always love finding creative ways to inspire kids to read. She gets to learn about her favorite band members- and she gets to read! Win win!I, personally, did not sift through the book. It came in pristine condition. The hardcover had that new book 'crack' as it first opened. So I didn't want to mess with it too much before she opened it for her birthday. It is hardcover. And a quality hardcover. The pages are glossy with high resolution pictures and clear print. The quality of the book is worth well over it's asking price. The cover is glossy and has embossed writing (textured writing). I think the reading level is a bit sophisticated for elementary kids- but even so they would probably really enjoy the pictures. The size of the book is fairly big. It's thick! Full of pages. But the actual size of the book is large too! I'd say it's about 10 inches wide- which is pretty big for a book. It's sized similar to a typical library encyclopedia (but not quite as thick).All in all, I was very pleased with this book. And the girl who recieved it absolutely loves it!

I was sliding down a slippery slope and having increasingly troublesome symptoms of what I later learned was genetically-predisposed insulin resistance. I read this book, started reading labels, and took myself off sugar, grains, starches and even fruit for 3 months (the first 4 weeks are a bear with cravings!). I quit having chocolate, sugar, dessert/baked goods cravings to the point where treats don't even look good to me anymore. It has now been 3 years and I am living comfortably having only the very rare dessert, small portions of fresh fruit, and almost no grain products whatsoever. It has its challenges, I live with a runner, and self-proclaimed carboholic veggiephobe. I plan meals that I can eat (adding veggies to) and he can add rice, pasta or bread to. I no longer have daily migraines, my fibromyalgia pain has been drastically reduced, my brain fog is less pronounced, and my lab values have all improved. I very much recommend this easy program as a segue into a healthier lifestyle for those with familial diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity or fibromyalgia.

I followed the program week by week. Some days I gave in and had a sweet treat (which ended up making my body feel more horrible than I ever would have thought). I felt amazing quitting sugar. It's not an easy task but I think the people who are giving negative reviews are just finding excuses to not just do the damn thing. She does offer recipes that include brown rice syrup and stevia but when you are quitting something for good, having a temporary alternative is so helpful! If you don't want to eat those items then don't... there are plenty of other great recipes. This book helped me immensely and I owe Sarah Wilson a lot of gratitude. I would recommend buying supporting books that focus on the politics and effects of sugar but as far as needing a program to guide you along the way, I recommend her book to all of my friends.

Excellent book for those wanting to try a sugar free diet. Easy to read, lots of delicious (and unusual) recipes and a weekly menus to ease you into the sugar free way of life. Weight loss and increased energy guaranteed! This is an Australian publication, so searching for named ingredients will be sometimes be required but most are readily available.

Good for those who don't want all the science as to why you should eat this way. I appreciate that she tries to focus her recipes on the more difficult meals but I wish there were more dinner and protein recipes. That said, the recipes are great.

I really wanted to like this book. My doctor recently recommended I cut back on sugar for the candida factor, and I'd heard the buzz about IQS and thought I'd give it a try. So I did, and I was really into the idea of a sugar detox -- but as I read more (the actual program portion of the book is VERY short, as it turns out) I grew increasingly frustrated and disappointed. But the truth is, this book is poorly organized and lacks rigor. I expected Wilson to cite a lot more research and deliver more statistics and actual information, but she didn't.The biggest problem, however, is that it really is not a "program." There's hardly any structure. The weekly breakdowns are just collections of sidebars and offer vague tips. She's also huge on butter, coconut oil, and other foods dense in saturated fat. I'm all for whole, full-fat foods, and I think saturated fat probably has gotten an unfairly bad rap, but the research doesn't quite exist to support the idea of eating plenty of it -- which is why you won't find any backup in the book. Aside from that, I have a lot of smaller (but actually still important) quibbles: Despite reading it multiple times, I still can't tell whether you have to give up stevia at any point. Or cinnamon. Furthermore, the recipe section includes a block of "detox" recipes, but it's not clear whether you're supposed to stick to those recipes exclusively during the "detox" weeks (which I think are weeks 3 through 5) or throughout the whole program.My problem with this book can be summed up by a single, glaring contradiction that I haven't been able to reconcile despite searching iquitsugar.com extensively and Googling for an answer. I actually did see another reader ask this question in a comments section about the online program, but no one from the customer service team replied to her. Here's the contradiction -- check the book for yourself to confirm (I'm using the paperback U.S. edition):* On page 26 ("Week 3: Quit!"), Wilson lists items that "must go" starting that day, "with no exceptions." Item #1: Fresh and dried fruit, fruit juice.* On page 41 ("Week 5: Get Creative, Experiment ... and Detox"), Wilson recommends 3 recipes to try that week. The first one is the Sweet Green Meal-in-a-Tumbler, found on page 110. Flip to page 110 and check the first 3 ingredients of the smoothie: 1/2 grapefruit, 1/2 lemon, 1/2 green apple.What? Why? Elsewhere in the book she even includes apples on a list of high-fructose fruits that should be avoided altogether.I'll keep the book around for some sugar-free recipes, but that's about it. I'm just going to cut back on sugar in some smart, basic ways and move on with my life. I'm a little angry that I fell for the marketing, but kudos to the team that put together such a pretty package.

NO, just no, this book is not a good source for eliminating sugar from your diet. Here is why...If you want to quit sugar, then quit sugar. That means eliminating added sugar from you diet by not eating it any any of its processed forms; sugar, honey, agave, brown rice syrup.The last part of the book is full of sweet treat recipes made with brown rice syrup! Yuck!!! That's not quitting sugar, thats just replacing it dressed up as a "healthier" version of itself. If you want to quit eating sugar - stop eating desserts. Curb your sweet tooth with whole fruits or healthy smoothies.Also she cautions about eating certain fruits because they have too much of "bad sugar" in them. I do not suggest taking nutritional advise from anyone who claims that it is better to eat a sweet treat made with brown rice syrup or stevia over eating whole fruits that have tons of nutrients and fiber necessary for a balanced nutritious diet.

I just finished this 6th edition book. Did about 50% of the coding of the book. I did started reading the 4th edition while waiting for Amazon to ship this book and finished it. 4th is the last book covered objective-C. I would presume that the 6th edition would be similar to the 4th edition with just a different language. But gladly I'm wrong! This 6th edition actually has very little almost to nothing resemble from 4th edition. Maybe it has less than 20% overlaps which is so surprising comparing to college textbooks where 95% is exactly same for few edition differences. 6th is thiner than 4th book but covers more material. It's a faster pace. Every little time was spend on swift. Maybe that material is yanked out for the swift book that they publish. This is great! I got a better understanding and practice with auto layout features from this sixth edition and better understanding of different design patterns. Everyone says that beginners just need to jump on SWIFT, but you'll need a little of objective-C to understand few weird residue stuff. So I think getting both 4th and 6th books would be a great choice if you're a beginner.Few concerns for new comers: 1) Xcode8.x is terribly slow. Swift feature is still evolving so many features in Xcode that works for Objective C will not work for swift. 2) because xcode8 is slow, you'll need a new powerful machine and yet still be slow. your learning experience will be painful. To speed up things. do this: sudo /usr/libexec/xpccachectl. It also enables your command+/ commenting. 3) There are a number of design patterns in 6th edition that covered very quickly. If you already familiar with GOF or at least head first design patterns, then you'll be fine.I finished 4th edition and its coding to address the slowness of xcode8. You can use a Macpro1,1 with xcode5 or xcode7.2 to do all the programming problems perfectly fine. You'd need a macpro4,1 or 5,1 to run xcode8.2 which are much cheaper than anything new you can buy (get on CL for few hundreds + eBay CPU+memory)I love Big Nerd Ranch!! I got my hand on a 2nd ed. for Android. Tried first chapter and saw many inconsistency between the book and the current android studio. So just ordered a 3rd ed of android programming. I'm so excited waiting for it.

Best programming book I've ever learned from. I've purchased a few books in the past for learning Java, but none were written as fluently and as effectively as this one.I'm at chapter 18 right now and I can attest to the helpfulness of the challenges. The challenges at the end of most chapters help you learn how to explore different parts of Swift and how to debug your programs. This is a super valuable skill and I 100% recommend you do ALL of the challenges. Some challenges took me 5 minutes and some of them took me 3 days. However, now that I'm almost done with the book, I've learned a lot of skills that have made the rest of these challenges a piece of cake. Completing the challenges is ESSENTIAL to fully utilizing the power of this book.However, this book is not intended for a brand new programmer. My previous knowledge of Java has helped my progress through this book tremendously. I also took an online course for learning the basics of the Swift programming language and without that, I would be incredibly lost. If you don't already know the basics of the Swift programing language, I recommend you find a tutorial online before purchasing this book.I definitely recommend this book to any programmer trying to learn Swift.

I worked about 90% of the examples in this book, including all the challenge assignments. Most of them worked perfectly and helped me graduate from Objective-C to swift. I would definitely recommend it.But...this book is not for beginning programmers. Nor is it for brand-new swift programmers. If you don't have at least some understanding of ?,! and closures, this book will leave you confused.Good: they stress design from the start. Despite what other reviewers have indicated, they made some effort to distinguish between data sources and delegates, and did not just throw everything into the view controllers.Bad: the web services example is broken. The return from the Flickr ReST call wasn't correct JSON and required some string manipulation to strip off extra characters. I don't know whether they simply didn't test their examples, or whether Flickr changed their API (or some other explanation) but it isn't professional to publish a book like this with errors, especially since the last several chapters depend on getting the web service working.However, despite this issue, I found the book helpful and useful and would strongly recommend it to others.

I am new to IOS Programming and Swift, although I went through a few online tutorials. I have about 1/4th of the book finished now and the learning curve is very steep. Already the beginning of the book to explain iOS Programming using the MVC model was great to understand the structure of a program and made it much easier to get into the coding and understanding iOS. I also love the challenges at the end of the book, although the authors should offer the results as well somewhere.However, this book is not for beginners in programming. I am an experienced Flash-Actionscript programmer and this helps me a lot to understand the book. So one should at least know one programming language very well and be familiar with the principles of programming including models. One of the challenges I was experiencing at this time (summer 2017) is that most online tutorials, questions-answers in forums all deal with former versions of swift. So you need to work on converting older code to the newest version, which I found also helpful in understanding the code. Also use the xcode playground a lot to work on simple code problems. Generally my opinion is that this is one of the best programming books I have so far read.
